Description
VINIFICATION
Semillon from the Home Estate was harvested in the early morning of 21 February 2023, then crushed and clarified immediately via flotation. The clarified juice was transferred to seasoned French oak barriques and fermented to dryness. This Semillon matured in oak for a further 6 months prior to racking, filtering and bottling in August 2023.
TASTING NOTES
Here at Montague Estate, we’ve always believed that Semillon has been stiffed of the true love it deserves – especially here in Western Australia. The perfect accompaniment to Asian cuisine and the bounty of our oceans, it is well past time to get reacquainted with this incredible variety. This 2023 vintage opens brightly with notes of green apple, honeysuckle, and melon rind. As the complexity builds, papaya, as well as hints of lanolin and freshly grated ginger move up the dance card, wonderfully meshing with a suite of citrus fruit. Lithe, zippy, and with the salinity in keeping with our maritime environment, this wine is a must.
