Description
VINIFICATION
Mataro grapes from Frankland River were harvested on the 19th of April 2023, de-stemmed and crushed to an open fermenter. Following fermentation and completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine was transferred to a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels (20% new). The oak and fruit were in perfect harmony after 8 months in that oak; thus the wine was bottled early to retain freshness of fruit.
TASTING NOTES
The bouquet is bright and fresh, with evocative hints of oregano, sage, and light vanillin cocoa, wreathed in a soft waft of tobacco leaf and fennel seed. On the palate, a rasp of loganberry and dark cherry fuse neatly with notes of Italian herb and gentle forest bramble. This is an airy and soft expression of this incredibly diverse grape, perfectly built for our warm spring days.
